Clay’s research focuses on how skeletal muscle “remembers” exercise. He studies three groups: one that trains regularly, one that stops training to see if the benefits last, and one that stops and starts training again to see if those benefits can be regained or even enhanced. Through this research, he aims to develop long-term strategies to minimize the loss of muscle mass with age.
